Books, Authors, Fandom and Pop-Culture Chaos
Auckland Spring Armageddon is coming up from 23–26 October, and this year The Grimoire will be there with our very own stall.
As one of the biggest pop-culture events in New Zealand, Armageddon brings together celebrity guests, cosplay, gaming, comics, anime, movies, TV, fandoms, brilliant Kiwi businesses and four very full days of pop-culture chaos.
And this year, somewhere amongst all of that, there will also be us.
We’ll be bringing a huge range of special and limited editions, fantasy, romantasy, sci-fi, romance, bookish goodies and plenty of other things we’ve decided are absolutely necessary to take with us.
Meet the authors
We’re incredibly excited to have Graci Kim and Li Chen joining us at The Grimoire stall across the weekend.
We love supporting Kiwi authors, and while their books are written for a younger audience than the books we usually stock, we couldn’t resist the chance to bring their wonderful stories along for the ride. After all, there’s no better time to fall in love with reading than when you’re young.
We’ll have books from both authors available to purchase, so you can come along, meet them, grab a photo and get a signed copy while they’re with us.
Meet Graci Kim
New York Times bestselling author Graci Kim will be joining us on:
Saturday 24 October | 10:30am–12:30pm
Graci Kim is the author behind the Slinger series. A middle-grade fantasy series set in a magical version of Seoul, where dreams come to life, phoenixes and dragons fill the skies, and food appears based on your mood.
Graci is also the author of the Gifted Clans series, a contemporary middle-grade fantasy inspired by Korean mythology and folklore, following a hidden society of Korean witches living in modern-day Los Angeles.
Meet Li Chen
Li Chen, creator of the utterly adorable Detective Beans series, will be joining us on:
Saturday 24 October | 1:30pm–3:00pm
Sunday 25 October | 10:30am–12:30pm
These middle-grade graphic novels follow an enthusiastic kitten sleuth as he tackles quirky mysteries around Cat Town.
Basically everything you could want from a detective story, but with considerably more kittens.
We’re getting into the spirit of it too
It’s Armageddon, so naturally the Grim team will be dressing up across the weekend.
Characters are still TBC, but we are very committed to making it suitably dramatic.
There’ll be plenty happening across all four days, and we’ll share more about exactly what we’re bringing as we get closer.
If you’re heading to Auckland Spring Armageddon, come and find us (STALL 57). Browse the shelves, show us your cosplay, meet Graci and Li, or just come over and say hi. We’d genuinely love to meet more of the Grim fam in person.
Tickets are available through the Armageddon website. Door sales are expected to be very limited, so booking online is recommended if you’re planning to come along:
